This summer Anatomical are inviting groups of people who belong together to take part in a new performance for the Out of the Ordinary Festival.

Families, friends, teammates, neighbours, colleagues.

Each group will create its own section within the final event. Using movement, simple theatre, games and imagination, we’ll turn everyday group life into something performative. A piece of outdoor theatre that only your lot could make.

Grey Area is a street performance by Charles Brockbank, blending juggling, parkour, and clowning to reimagine the overlooked ‘grey zones’ of the urban landscape. This is a playful yet thoughtful response to the spaces we often move through without noticing. Created through a neurodivergent lens, Grey Area invites audiences to reconsider their relationship with the built environment — to pause, look again, and find moments of connection in the in-between.

Meet the world’s 1ST (and, as far as we know, still the only) Shopping Trolley Dance Display Team – Granny Turismo!

Since 2009 we’ve caused a stir on our suped-up trolleys at shopping centres, high streets, festivals, parades (ooh… we do love a parade), and for many other unexpected delights!

Our show is part walkabout, part circle show, a pinch of chaos – but mostly just us having a lovely time! We bring a mix of enthusiastic dance routines, bad attitudes, questionable decision-making, and surprise impact that’s enjoyed at all manner of events and festivities.

Yeshe is a gentle, mysterious and curious yak. He’s very fond of children especially those who might carefully stoke his nose or tickle his fringe. 

An absurd walkabout that will make you laugh, and maybe think, if you so wish!

Two beautician babes on a mission to embellish just about anyone they can get their hands on. They are wanna-be dodgy dealers with a big heart, loveable bad crooks. With an absurd take on today’s beauty industry, the pair will waltz around offering unsuspecting ‘volunteers’ a short escape from reality in their makeshift roadside salon, from which they sell their dodgy wares. 

The Mystic Mirror Globe is a magical world of mirrors that spin and crack open at the press of a button.

The globe is full of unique custom-made, interactive special effects. A wise mystic sits inside the mirror world quietly taking in her curious spectators, will she select you? She may beckon you for a closer look inside one of her magical handheld circus mirrors, transforming your features into curious shapes.

A playful, interactive outdoor performance exploring the legends of 18th-century highway robbers. Audiences become jurors, re-enact crimes, and debate verdicts. Blending history with comedy, dance, and bold design, it invites reflection on crime and punishment.

Walter the Waiter is always “At Your Service” and ready to please.
Conjuring up feats and clever tricks with his many accoutrements, always poised to deliver plenty of fun. From the confines of his mobile serving station, he’ll command carrots to dance in front of your eyes, swing saturation around and around, manipulate champagne bottles as you have never seen, do things with spoons you can only dream of. You will never look at a waiter again in the same light, after an encounter with Walter.

Fresh from their potting shed our comedy gardeners bring you skilful, wholesome, fresh, 5-a-day fun.

Perfect for any food, plant, health, or green event. Sit amongst the flowers on our grassy lawn (provided!) and enjoy a show packed full of tasty fruit and vegetable themed juggling and comedy cookery…..even Peter Rabbit himself makes a thrilling appearance! 

Interactive, colourful, and completely organic, Grow Your Own

Suitcases inside suitcases inside suitcases… objects that continuously mutate and in doing so bring new scenes to life.

Luigi Ciotta take us back in time: an imaginary hotel, full of guest and too many old suitcases. It’s the 1930’s and music accompanies our delightful porter in his fight against the overwhelming forces of caos.

The show combines physical theatre, clown and circus trickery, while the simplicity of Luigi Ciotta engages the audience who play with this charming character in this fast paced, and often, poetic piece.

The show mirrors the research into non-verbal comedy, that Luigi carried out during his involvement in physical theatre: this has gone hand-in hand with his research into the comic use of objects which, in typical clown fashion, are dragged out of their original context to become something…comical and fantastic.

Pang On! is a nod to the more traditional one-person comedy juggling street show and is crammed full of high skill, audience participation, improvisation and a catapult, for good measure.

He's back!  After a break of five years the legendary human cannonball returns.

With a collection of wacky props, hilarious timing and the greatest shoulders on earth, the witty, charming and oh so stupid "Blunderfudge" takes to the stage in his quest to become the world's greatest daredevil showman.

Washing machines that play music, disco dancing with sink plungers, and the infamous Ironing Board of Death all feature in this one man kaleidoscope of circus, foolish theatre, music and comedy.

This is a show performed by an idiot, full of sound, fury… and domestic appliances.

Olive Branch is a poetic tale of rediscovering the wonder and beauty that nature provides. Following the new and unusual friendship between two strangers, they quickly learn to overcome differences, despite miscommunications, by developing trust and acceptance, an alliance is formed to defend mother nature.

The performance is about the sensitivity and connection between two people which brings about compatible contradictions.

Can we be strong whilst relaxed? Heavy whilst light? Grounded whilst levitated? Submissive whilst in control? A mixture of strength and weakness? Can we be dropped into the air?

Humanity emerges and acrobatic prowess speaks between bodies. In a mixture of abandonment and accountability this piece is sensitive, where bodies just fit together.
