Bring Your Own People Project
The Project
This summer Anatomical are inviting groups of people who belong together to take part in a new performance for the Out of the Ordinary Festival.
Families, friends, teammates, neighbours, colleagues.
Big families, small families, complicated families, chosen families.
Your usual gang.
Got a family? A gang of friends? A football team? A couple of neighbours you always end up with? Bring them.
If you already arrive somewhere together, you’re exactly who we’re looking for.
We’ll start with one big opening session where everyone meets, moves, plays and tries things out. No performing experience needed and no special skills required.
After that we’ll gather across three creative weekends to build a performance together.
Each group will create its own section within the final event. Using movement, simple theatre, games and imagination, we’ll turn everyday group life into something performative. A piece of outdoor theatre that only your lot could make.
How you hang out together.
How you disagree about what’s happening next.
How you celebrate small victories.
How you look after the youngest or the slowest.
The games you play and the jokes only you understand.
All the tiny details that make a group a group.
These moments will sit alongside each other to create a joyful outdoor performance shared as part of the festival.
Expect laughter, slightly chaotic choreography, surprisingly beautiful moments, and the rare sight of adults doing what their children tell them.
The project is led by Anatomical, the dance and theatre company run by Anna Williams and Tom Roden, whose work brings people together through movement, humour and storytelling.
You don’t need to be performers - you just need to bring your people.
Who can take part?
Any kind of group is welcome:
families, friends, neighbours, colleagues, teams.
Groups might be small (3 people) or larger.
Children are very welcome, but not groups of children without adults. Time spent together is the key.
